Brief Biographical Sketch:

Ammaar is a Junior in Eliot House studying biology through a probabilistic and statistical lens. Outside of classes, he particularly enjoys leading discussion sections and office hours for the introductory probability and statistics sequence (Stat 110 & 111). He spends a lot of his free time working on novel X-ray crystallography experiments in the Hekstra lab, although he is yet to find success! He also plays tennis, reads books, and is only recently getting involved with theater productions on campus. He's very excited to lead his class!

S114: Exploring biological problems through simulation in Splash Splash Spring 2022 (Apr. 23 - 24, 2022)
Over the last 100 years, computing power has made it possible to simulate a variety of physical processes. In this course, we will study a few classical topics in biology (sequence prediction, bacterial chemotaxis, and protein dynamics) and explore them through simulation using a platform called Google Colab (https://colab.research.google.com/). No prior coding experience is necessary, but we ask that participants create Google accounts beforehand (if they do not already have one) so that they can play with the simulations during the course.
