Brief Biographical Sketch:

I was born in Atlanta and moved around in the South, spending my high school years in Pensacola, Florida—where I first got involved in the climate justice movement. I'm passionate about using technology to facilitate climate justice organizing and I'm in the process of learning how we can do this. Today, I am an organizer with Fridays for Future Digital (best known for being the movement that Greta Thunberg started) and a Research Associate at Just Venture Labs writing on climate justice. I look forward from learning from you all and becoming more involved in the Boston community!

X90: Digital Campaigns and Climate Justice in Splash Spring 2021 (Apr. 17 - 18, 2021)
Climate change is an existential threat to our society. The fight for climate justice, led in the US by groups such as the Sunrise Movement and globally by groups such as Fridays for Future acknowledges the destruction of nature and the disproportionate effect of climate change on historically marginalized communities, including people of color, LGBTQIA+, etc. The COVID-19 pandemic forced these groups to shift many of their protests online. How can organizers for climate justice run campaigns that are effective, online? Can you build genuine people power online? This class will look at the key elements to building a digital advocacy campaign, using theories from community organizing.
